It’s Always SUNNY (Hostel) in Taiwan

Whenever I travel, first on my priority is to look for a good hotel and all that I found in Taipei Sunny Hostel. Some of the most important key points that I take in consideration when in search for the right one are as follows:

  • Good location
  • Value for money
  • Facilities
  • Staff
  • Security

As soon as I booked a ticket for our Taiwan trip, I immediately logged in my Agoda Account. Not long after, I found Taipei Sunny Hostel. With a booming 9.5 rating, without any hesitations, immediately booked a Quad Room Ensuite for me and my friends.

After a few minutes, I got an email from one of Taipei Sunny Hostel’s staff, Sandy. She just sent a few confirmation on our booking and I also asked a few stuff regarding our room. It has been a good exchange of emails. Indeed, a good start!

Besides the fact that it’s my first time in Taiwan, one more thing that made me excited was how our accommodation in Taipei Sunny Hostel would feel like. ๐Ÿ™‚

I know by this time, you’re still thinking “Of all the high-rated hotels / hostels in Taipei, why Sunny Hostel?”

Let me give you a “virtual tour” of Taipei Sunny Hostel, less the 3D-ish and 360 degree effect. LOL!

Taipei Sunny Hostel is located near 2 of the most go-to Train Stations for tourists in Taiwan. Ximen and Taipei Main Station. When I say near, you can go there by foot.

Sunny Hostel by day ๐Ÿ™‚
Sunny Hostel consists of 7 floors that has 3 rooms per floor. Not at all crowded ๐Ÿ™‚

One more thing that makes Taipei Sunny Hostel standout from the rest is that, once you step out of their main entrance, right in front of you is 228 Peace Memorial Park which is one of the recommended places for 1st time visitors in Taiwan. Tick that off your list less the hassle of walking or commuting when you stay in Taipei Sunny Hostel.

Me and 228 Peace Memorial Park’s reflection at Taipei Sunny Hostel’s Main Entrance.
Without a single drop of sweat, I am right inside 228 Peace Memorial Park.
Time to strike that pose! LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚
Right in front of Taiwan’s Massacre Monument @ 228 Peace Memorial Park.

It is also best and handy to have a screenshot of your hostel’s address on your phone as most cab drivers do not understand English. Here’s Taipei Sunny Hostel’s complete address:

Feel free to grab this photo ๐Ÿ™‚
There are a lot of cafes and other restaurants as well that you can choose from when you stay in Taipei Sunny Hostel. And our best bet, 7/11 just across the street. Hihihi! ๐Ÿ™‚

When I found Taipei Sunny Hostel, besides it’s high rating in Agoda, one thing that caught my attention was their rate / night. Rates below are on New Taiwan Dollars.

I will give you a computation of how much me and my friends paid for our Quad Room Ensuite assuming that the Philippine Peso – Taiwan Dollar exchange rate is NT1.7.

Since we stayed from Monday to Thursday, our rate per night was NT2400.

MATH (hate this! Haha!): NT2400 x 3 nights = NT7200 x NT1.7 / 4 pax = PHP 3,060 / person

Imagine, 3,060 pesos / person for 3 comfortable nights of stay is not bad at all!

TWIN ROOM (good for 2 pax): NT1680 (Sun-Thu) ย  NT1980 (Fri-Sat & Public holiday)
QUAD ROOM (good for 4 pax): NT2400 (Sun-Thu) ย  NT2800 (Fri-Sat & Public holiday)
FAMILY ROOM (good for 6 pax): NT3200ย (Sun-Thu) ย  NT3600 (Fri-Sat & Public holiday)
All walls on each stairway to each floor are filled with photos of their guests. You’ll also have a chance to have you and your friend’s photos mounted on the walls. ๐Ÿ™‚

Once all bookings and arrangements has been finalized, it is not the facilities of the hostel that will greet you but the staff.

Sunny Hostel’s staff has been nothing but polite and helpful during our stay.

Meet Jessie! Knew her even before I met her ๐Ÿ™‚

If you have places you want to go to, looking for recommendations or needs to write something in Chinese character, feel free to approach any of Sunny Hostel’s staff and they will be more than willing to do it for you.

Thank you for not making us feel too foreign in your country! ๐Ÿ™‚

And now, here’s the part you’ve all been waiting for! Let’s all have a sneak peak of what Taipei Sunny Hostel has to offer to all their guests.

Upon entering the hotel lobby, you will be greeted by these:

A photo wall of some of the guests who stayed in Sunny Hostel. You can also stay here and access their free internet while meeting other guests and making new friends.
What makes it cleaner than other hostels is that, you can only wear your shoes until the lobby area. Way beyond that, Sunny Hostel will provide you slippers of your preferred size to access the other areas. The shoe racks are in the lobby area too ๐Ÿ™‚
Guests are free to make use of their kitchen’s facilities too. Just make sure to wash the dishes and clean the area afterwards as this is a common place for all Sunny Hostel’s guests. ๐Ÿ™‚
Worry no more of lacking enough clothes during your whole stay in Taiwan as Sunny Hostel have coin-operated washing machines that guests can use when they need to. Just ask assistance from any of the staff on how to operate ๐Ÿ™‚
While waiting for your laundry, you can stay by the dining area and eat some FREE cookies and drink FREE teas ๐Ÿ™‚

After exploring the lobby, let’s now go to the rooms. Taipei Sunny Hostel consists of 7 floors. Each floors have 3 rooms (Twin, Quad and Family) which makes the place not crowded and peaceful at night.

Starting on the 2nd floor, they have an elevator that is accessible up to the 7th floor. ๐Ÿ™‚
The elevator can only accommodate 250kg max weight in one trip. Good thing I am not more than that. Medyo pa lang. LOL! They also have CCTV and the telephone inside just in case you need help on operating.

All rooms are keyless. Make sure to keep this access card at all time as it will be important if you are coming home late from the tour. that, I will discuss later on. ๐Ÿ™‚
Upon accessing the stairs, the first room you’ll see is the Twin Room.
Bathroom and toilet in one ๐Ÿ™‚
I noticed that in the Twin Room, the bathroom sink is outside the actual bathroom. It may be weird for some but it did not bother me at all ๐Ÿ™‚
Some vintage chair and table that only the Twin Room have. ๐Ÿ™‚
One downside of the Twin Room is that, it is not that couple-friendly. As they only have one option which is the double deck instead of having a double-sized bed or something.

All rooms have free toiletries such as cotton buds, free disposable toothbrush. ๐Ÿ™‚
They provide clean towels everyday upon request. ๐Ÿ™‚
This is the room my friends and I got. Comfortable sheets and clean room! We miss it!

The bathroom is more spacious than the 2 other rooms ๐Ÿ™‚
Can fit up to 6 persons ๐Ÿ™‚ not bad for a group!
Them comforters, though! So comfyyyyy <3
Cable ready TV! And worry no more, unlike other Asian countries, they have English channels too! Such as HBO, FOX, Star Movies, etc.
Only the Family Room have this desk ๐Ÿ™‚

It is normal for any first timers to spend time in the streets until the wee hours of the night. For Sunny Hostel, staff are only available until 11:00pm. If you arrive beyond that time, this is where the importance of the Access Cards of your hotel room comes in.

Sunny Hostel by night ๐Ÿ™‚
You do not need the Access Cards if you arrive before 11pm. Just press on the “Push” button by the door ๐Ÿ™‚
If it is past 11pm, see that sensor where the cute Sunny Hostel mascot is pointing? You just need to tap your card there and the door will open for you. The “Push” Button will not work past 11pm. ๐Ÿ™‚

Taipei Sunny Hostel has been a big part of my first time in Taiwan. And I couldn’t be more thankful ๐Ÿ™‚
